Volunteering

Passenger Decoy - Explosive Detection K9

Transportation Security Administration

About

TSA is seeking individuals that would like to volunteer their time to act as decoy (role player) travelers that would be willing to have limited amounts of explosive training aids either placed on the individual or in carry on luggage, while walking through the airport environment. Training aids can be safely worn or carried by decoys as long as the decoy follows the protocols outlined in the safety briefing provided before each training event.

We require volunteers that can drive their own vehicle to the Detroit Wayne County Metro Airport and park at the Badge & ID Center. From there, volunteers will be picked up by agency officials and taken to staging area. At the staging area, volunteers will be instructed on safety requirements and how to be a decoy passenger for our K9 teams. Volunteers are required to carry hazardous material inside a bag or on their person, sign safety agreements, and non-disclosure forms.
