Companionship for Hospital Hospice Patients

AccentCare Hospice

About

AccentCare Hospice is seeking compassionate volunteers to help brighten the lives of the patients at our inpatient unit at DMC Harper University Hospital in Detroit. Whether you are playing music for our patients, praying with them, providing aromatherapy, reading aloud, or assisting with a legacy project, you can make a difference in the lives of hospice patients while they are in the hospital. While you are brightening our patients’ lives you might find that your life becomes brighter too!

AccentCare Hospice, formerly Seasons Hospice, serves patients and families across southeastern Michigan, including at our inpatient unit in Detroit. We are currently seeking new volunteers to visit our patients at DMC Harper Hospital and provide companionship, socialization, supportive presence, and so much more. Our direct care volunteers visit with patients to provide companionship, this might include music companions who use the power of music to provide comfort and relaxation. It could also include spiritual companions who share their faith with patients of the same religious background and complement the services of our chaplains. Legacy project volunteers might assist patients and families with creating meaningful projects to honor the patients’ life, and vigil volunteers provide supportive presence at the bedside of patients who are actively dying. These are just a few of the ways volunteers in our organization support our patients, families, and staff while they are at our inpatient unit.

Even if you only have a few hours a month to give, we would be honored to have you join our team and support our mission of offering compassionate, personalized hospice care. Training is free and flexible to fit your schedule and you are able to choose what area you want to serve.

We look forward to hearing from you and helping you find ways to share your time with those at the end of life.
