AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP -Habitat ReStore, Elgin, IL

About

Habitat for Humanity ReStore Elgin is a resale store, open to the public, selling new and gently used building materials, appliances and furniture. Sales of donated merchandise generates proceeds that go into building Habitat homes in our area.

They need volunteers to help at every phase of the operation. You select the day and times (as little as 4 hours). Types of activities where we need volunteers:

• Processing donations: cleaning and assembly of donated items;
• Tool bench: repairing small motors, assembling furniture
• Sales Floor: assist customers
• Warehouse: unload donations from vehicles, help customers load purchases into their own vehicles;
• Shifts: you pick your shift. Tuesday through Sunday 9AM to 1 PM or 1 PM to 5 PM;
• Training: virtual "NEW TO RESTORE Orientation is required for all new volunteers;
• Court ordered Community Service: Advise hours needed and city where you went to court when you attend Orientation;

We not only have volunteers that work directly with the seniors but we also send community groups to aid other non-profit agencies in our area.
